This is really a bitter ending to a 20 year memory I kept from Stoney’s in the early 2000s; pre wife & child…Back then I visited Stoney via boat arrival to have the largest crab cake I’ve ever had with very little filler, super fresh...cooked to perfection. Fast forward to this weekend, I visited with my wife & child signing the praises of Stoney’s with anticipation running high. Crab cakes were small overdone. They were expensive back then & I was happy to pay. Still expensive, terrible food. Still looks like a great place for a Brew & a burger. I’d hold out for G& M next time you’re headed down 95…More

Wonderful friendly seafood restaurant on the water. Absolutely the best crab cakes! Their crab soup is island themed, tomato based, thick, excellent. Their crab dip appetizer is amazing, as are the crab balls. and crab stuffed mushrooms. Their nachos are fantastic, with crabmeat, fish, and...queso - a meal in itself. Owners are original, the place is a classic.More

We were so bummed out that they were closed this September, as it is our usual multi-birthday celebration destination. We very much hope they will weather this...storm, like they have so many before, and reopen next year. You are missed!More

Our favorite restaurant in southern MD since we moved to Calvert County more that 20 yrs ago. Crab cakes, crab cakes, crab capes. Service almost always good enough, but don't go an weekends when you're in a hurry (DUH) plenty of tables for big parties....Very sad to say, since around 2016 or 2017, it's been downhill. Both the food and the service have been suffering, in important ways, across the board: from superb to mediocre crab cakes, to "we're out of cole slaw." How does a crab shack run out of cole slaw??? It's a symptom: slack management, slack management, slack management. Hope the Stones, or whoever, wake up and fly right again.More

I been a number of time since my wife and I bought a home in Broome's Island and we have had a wonderful experience each time. They treat us like long lost friends. The food is great and well priced. The service is a tad...slow, but hey who's in a hurry.More

Our daughter was married close by this place so we returned there for lunch, along with her husband. The food prices were a bit high but sitting on a floating dock in the ourdoors was really nice despite the heat. Our orders were very good...and the drinks especially good (try Orange Crush). Our son in law's order came with bits of plastic in it as did his re-order. So watch what you eat so that this doesn't happen to you. The staff was very apologetic though.More

We are local and try, try again and hope Stoney's turns a new leaf. Over the last 15 years things have not improved and no one that works there or the owner seem to care. It's as if no one is in charge be it...in the kitchen, bar or servers. Food is inconsistent (usually fair to poor), service is slow but the view is fantastic. I wish someone would buy the place and turn it into a good restaurant. It doesn't seem that hard and business would greatly improve.More

So for starters I had never been here. I came here with 9 other friends and we ate outside. All we ordered was appetizers and it took us 2 hours to leave because our "server" was the bartender. I'm a former server myself and I...feel that this was just very poor management. Also, I ordered a salad with no tomatoes, onions or eggs and sure enough the salad came out with tomatoes and onion all in it. So I told the food runner and she told me word for word "well that's weird because we are out of tomatoes" and I said well they're all in my salad and I showed her. So when she proceeded to bring my new salad out, it was like they had dumped salt all over my lettuce because I sent it back. I also ordered the filet bites, medium-rare and they came out well done and were the toughest filet I have ever had in my life. I was very disappointed in every aspect with this restaurant and will definitely not be returning.More

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and last night’s visit will be my last. The location is stunning and this used to be a restaurant with delicious food and fair service. Last night the food was so-so. You could tell the...server was trying, but she wasn’t familiar with the available sides and didn’t get one of 4 orders right. Of the entrees we had the crab cake was good, the crab-corn chowder was heavily salted and mediocre, the mussels were over cooked and overly sauced and the burgers arrived with generous portions but only average taste. There used to be a delicious steak sandwich and salad on the menu, as well as the seafood. Now non-seafood eaters have very limited choices. We sat outside, which is the main reason to go here and used to be a wonderful option. Last night we were pestered by flies attracted to an unsightly service cart and overflowing trash can nearby. I would have asked to be seated elsewhere if I’d noticed it before we were seated. Even walking by such a mess in a restaurant is pretty repulsive. Very sad to see this place has deteriorated so much. It used to be scenic, sanitary and offer consistently good food. Service has always been slow, which you can ignore if everything else is on track, but now the whole package is below par. So sad.More

Walked in to have some of their smith island cake! No one had a clue. Soon learned they were under new management! It definitely looked like they'd just moved. I opted to visit their original location on Solomon’s Island. Upon arriving in Solomon’s the Stoney’s...Kingfisher looked like it had been stripped of decor & customers. Not a soul in sight but was told all tables were reserved until 7:30 -almost 2 hrs away! Thankfully someone called to cancel & we were given a seat. Not sure what’s going on with Stoney’s but I was truly disappointed in both restaurants!More

Stoney's used to be a go-to place by all accounts. Sadly we did not check reviews before going there. The servers are friendly enough and trying to do their best, but everything else needs drastic improvement. First, we asked to sit near the water over...by the outside bar but were told that section was not yet open. Well, 15 minutes later, someone was sitting there. Why not let us? We ordered softshells and kids burgers. The wait time was extremely long although it was before noon and not many people had ordered. Instead of two kids burgers, four showed up, but we had ordered medium and these were so charred our 8-year old could hardly eat them. The softshell crabs were also overcooked, not juicy at all, almost like cardboard. The couple at the table next to us got the wrong food served and the replacement took so long they left. This is unfortunate, the location is wonderful. But we will not be coming back. The next day we had a much more pleasant experience at a local Ledo's pizza in Prince Frederick for a third the cost.More

We have been to all of the Stoney's and this one on Broome's Island is by far the best. Easy access by boat or car, and the view, food and service is good. As we read some of the reviews, we can easily see why...they are there what they are, large crowds happen without notice, We think Stoney's does a good job and we enjoy the food and atmosphere.More

We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and could not find a host or waitress. Wandered through an empty restaurant looking for a place to sit. Finally found a waitress and table. Ordered wine and a bloody mary. They came in plastic cups....3 oz of...wine for 7$! Fried oysters were minute and so heavily breaded they were inedible. In an adjacent room, which was the waitress's lounge, a TV was blaring so loud it was extremely irritating. Never again.More
