Lucas Oil SAE Heavy Duty 80W-90 Gear Oil

Lucas SAE 80W-90 Gear Oil is a technical blend of oils and additives designed to give longer oil life and longer component life with less power draw. It contains special lubricity agents for:

  • Less Wear
  • Less Heat
  • Less Power Usage
  • Longer Bearing Life

Lucas Oil SAE 80W-90 Heavy Duty Gear Oil is formulated with special "Climbing Additives". This action is especially important in power dividers and hypoid gears. It resists breakdown from contact with water. It will also blend with other gear oils, even synthetics. The Lucas Oil SAE 80W-90 enjoys the technology Lucas developed in making the "Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer", the number one supplemental oil in the heavy duty industry.

Is SAE 90 gear oil the same as 80W

Also: SAE 90 is a huge range. 80W-90 is the lower (less viscous) end of the scale, while 85W-90 is the top end of the scale. Both are monogrades (single grades).

What is 80W

Application. Gear Oil 80W-90 is designed for use in differentials, both hypoid and limited slip, manual gearboxes, transfer cases and transaxles in passenger cars, light commercials, 4WDs, trucks, construction, earthmoving and agricultural equipment, where this viscosity grade is required.

What's the difference between 75 90 and 80W

The 80w90 gear oil provides a density of 0.90, while the 75w90 gear oil provides a density of approximately 0.86. Thicker gear oils are more advantageous since they offer better protection than thinner oils. However, thicker oils get clumpy at lower temperatures, thus downgrading efficiency.
