How do emergency fluorescent lights work?

The EMERGENCY BALLAST senses the A.C. power failure and automatically switches to the Emergency Mode. One lamp is illuminated at reduced output, for a minimum of 90 minutes. When A.C. Power is restored, the EMERGENCY BALLAST switches the system back to the Normal Mode and resumes battery charging.

What is an emergency light ballast?

Emergency Ballasts. Emergency Ballasts allow an existing light fixture to operate in emergency battery mode during a power outage. In the event of a power failure, the emergency battery ballast operates the fixture, powering the lamp for a minimum of 90 minutes from the built-in backup battery.

How long do emergency ballast last?

When the electricity goes out and the Emergency Mode begins, an emergency light must operate for a minimum of 90 minutes according to NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.

What is a self contained emergency light?
