:help:I have a late 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L and I need to replace the crank position sensor but cant seem to locate it. Anyone tell me where it is and the steps to replace it? Thanks:help:

Sure... Its on the passengers above the oil pan at the rear of the engine... it should be just below the aft exhaust manifold primary. It is held in with one screw/bolt. They can be a PITA to remove... make sure you have some heavy duty chanel locks and large flat head screw driver & patients... they snap in with their "O" RING.... so it will take
some effort to remove it. SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

The camshaft position sensor (CMP) on a 2006 Ram 1500 4.7L is located at the rear of the engine. It's a small electrical sensor that extends through the engine block; connecting on the outside, and sensing the position on the inside. If You take a look at the following URL, You can see it at position number 3 -- //www.autozone.com/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images/0996b43f/80/7c/b5/e5/large/0996b43f807cb5e5.gif The good news is that the CMP sensor is relatively inexpensive -- some aftermarket brands go for as low as $20. The bad news is that it can be in a tough position to replace, so You may get Your hands a little bit d***y and it's a tight fit. Still, many amateur automotive enthusiasts report having success with a DIY, so it's worth a gander at YouTube tutorials if You feel confident.

The 2006 dodge ram 1500 4.7 Camshaft position sensor bolts to the head near the front and just below the valve cover.
