2015 jeep grand cherokee hid headlight bulb replacement

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I decided to replace the bulbs myself referencing the video which was extremely helpful. Only tools needed is a flathead screwdriver for removing the air box and a pair of nitrile gloves.

First unplug both ECM connectors as in video. For each connector, push small tab on front and lift lever fully. Wiggle connector back to unplug.

Here is the passenger side, remove the plastic cap. Twist counterclockwise to remove.

View of OEM Osram bulb. There is an outer ring with tabs on either side at the 10oclock and 4oclock position when locked. To unlock turn outer ring counterclockwise to 7oclock and 2oclock position. Then you can wiggled the bulb back from the spring tension clips. Below photo shows the unlock position.

Unplug connector and reconnect to new HID bulb. I upgraded to the Philips Xtremevision, they are 4800k color. It will take a little patience to seat the new bulb inside the spring mechanism, this was probably the most difficult step. Make sure bulb is fully seated then lock the outer ring by turning clockwise back to original position.

For the driver side, remove the air box and intake per the video. The top of the intake and the back of the airbox are attached to plastic grommets, you need to disconnect the points. Here is the view of the drivers side. Repeat the procedure, button everything up and go have a beer.

I will give the new bulbs some time (20 hours) to break-in. I was expecting a noticeable whiter color from the OEM 4300k bulbs but it was hard to tell after install. I will give it some time. Anyone else with the Philips XV notice the same?

Greetings!!! I’m a proud owner of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee which now has 188,422 miles on her and still drives as good as the day I drove it off the lot. I need help with replacing the driver side headlight HID bulb. I know there has already been some discussion on this issue. Someone had posted a video how to get to the bulb with out removing the entire front fascia but the video no longer works . Any help and advice to changing this bulb would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for any info!!!!

There is a cap inside the wheel well which you can turn and get access to the headlamp cover (twist and remove both). Move the airbox and you should be able get some access to the headlamp as well, be gentle with the bulb.

There should be bolts attached on the sides of the airbox (10mm i believe) just undo them and you should be able to move it.

Do yourself a favor and just remove the fascia. I messed around with one side for an hour or more and finally decided screw it and pulled the fascia off ~5min and removed the entire headlight assembly and replaced the bulbs on the table. The way the bulbs sit in there and latch makes it almost impossible to get the new bulbs lined up and secured.

Whoever suggested remove the little caps in the fender liner has apparently never changed bulbs because those holes lead nowhere near the bulb cap on the HID headlight housings. It may work on halogens but not HID.

Also, I do not recall any bolts holding the airbox holding it in place. There are some pins with a rubber grommet that position it and hold it in place but no bolts. Or maybe I did not put them back

Removal of the front fascia is the correct way of doing it. And while it may seem more involved there is less chance of doing expensive damage. HID bulbs are not cheap but the fact remains that space is tight that only toddler hands can twist and reach in there.

Remove the airbox top, filter, and the air intake port is attached to the weatherstripping, the whole airbox bottom is just on rubber grommets, pull upward. That will get you just barely enough room to get to the bulb. Don't bother going thru the holes in the fender liner, they're almost useless. For the passenger side, just move the computer up out of the way (it just clips on) to get more room to get to that one.
