The new Quality Improvement Basics Workshop was a highlight of the conference, which featured six modules on a variety of topics, including:

  • Introduction to Quality Improvement: QI concepts and the rationale for investing in quality
  • The Quality Improvement Process: How QI happens and how to begin a QI project
  • Data Measurement and Analysis: How data are used throughout a QI project and some fundamental tools that can help to disseminate and analyze data
  • Change Management: How change happens and the factors that affect the change process, and how implementation science can be used throughout a QI project
  • Patient Safety: The role of culture in maintaining and improving patient safety, the characteristics of high-reliability institutions, and how to evaluate and improve your hospital’s safety culture
  • Leadership and Teamwork for QI: The characteristics of effective leadership and teamwork and how to develop and evaluate teamwork and leadership skills
