The American Red Cross makes CPR certification fast, simple and easy. And with Red Cross Digital Certificates you'll get anytime, anywhere access to your certificates; plus the ability to print, share, and download them wherever and whenever you like. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account. Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid. Class participants and employers can visit https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate and enter the ID found on the digital certificate (or scan the QR code with a standard QR reader using a smart device) to access a copy of the valid certificate with student training information.

Performing First Aid

At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. What is the difference between AHA and Red Cross CPR?

The AHA CPR Certification is more widely accepted by healthcare professionals as it is considered slightly more extensive as well as more challenging. While the Red Cross allows an 80% or higher on their exams as passing, the AHA requires a score of 84% or greater.

Call 911 or ask someone else to..

Lay the person on their back and open their airway..

Check for breathing. If they are not breathing, start CPR..

Perform 30 chest compressions..

Perform two rescue breaths..

Repeat until an ambulance or automated external defibrillator (AED) arrives..

Is CPR and first aid the same?

While CPR classes tend to focus on helping someone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, first aid classes tend to focus on all other emergency situations: cuts, fractures, choking and everything in between. Taking both of these classes can be extremely beneficial in the event an emergency situation arises.
