Attack on titan season finale release date

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 has a new trailer for its final episode, but we’re not really sure if it’s the end of the series or not. (Polygon has reached out to Crunchyroll for clarification.) The trailer, which shows off how we got to this point and points to the looming battle ahead, was released on Wednesday. Attack on Titan episode 87, which is set to be the last episode of Final Season Part 2, is set to come out April 3.

The trailer itself doesn’t give much away about the next episode, but it does confirm a lot of what fans have already been speculating: it doesn’t exactly seem like the end of the series. Supposedly the anime will feature a different finale from the poorly received manga ending, but just about any conclusion would take more set up than the show has so far. In fact, if we’re judging by manga chapters, episode 87 is called “The Dawn of Humanity,” the same name as chapter 130 of the manga, which ended at chapter 139 — far more chapters than the show has ever handled in one episode before.

All this uncertainty means that it’s possible, and maybe even likely, that this isn’t really Attack on Titan’s final episode. Instead, it’s possible that MAPPA Studios announces that the series will have a Final Season Part 3. However, with the massive success of both the Demon Slayer movie and the Jujutsu Kaisen movie, it’s very possible that MAPPA opts to give the series a theatrical feature-length finale.

Either way, we’re likely to hear more about the future Attack on Titan sometime after the last episode of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 airs Sunday at 4:45 p.m. EDT on Crunchyroll.

The final episode of Attack on Titan season 4 has been delayed by a week, alongside a slight rescheduling for episode 84's airing. The second half of the fourth season of the anime, which will be the series' last, began airing in January. The series that debuted in 2013 is an adaptation of Hajime Isayama's dark fantasy manga.

Ever since season 4, episode 76, "Judgement," debuted on January 9, fans have been taken on a non-stop ride full of revelations, shocks, and twists. With the war between Paradis and Marley over the power of the Founding Titan bringing the story back to where the series began in Shiganshina, Eren (Yuki Kaji) finally learns the true origin of the Titans while demonstrating incredible powers that reshape the entire series. Ultimately, Eren does the unthinkable in his quest to vanquish his enemies, taking on a new form while commanding the Wall Titans to wipe out most of humanity,  with scenes that were stressful for cast members and fans alike. However, fans will now be disappointed to learn that the show will see a brief setback.

As translated by the Twitter account Attack On Fans, the show's Japanese website has reported the upcoming changes in schedule. The website stated that episode 84, which was scheduled to air on March 6, would air at 00:15, Japan standard time, 15 minutes later than usual. It was also revealed that the final episode of Attack on Titan season 4, episode 87, will be delayed by a week. The series finale will now air on April 3 instead of March 27. Attack On Fans then speculated that because the final episode was replaced by an as-yet-untitled special program, there may be a reveal about the series, pointing out the show's presence at the AnimeJapan 2022 convention on the same day. With many of the series' mysteries answered, Attack on Titan season 4, part 2, aims to bring the long-running anime to a close. The series began airing in April 2013 under the direction of Death Note director Tetsurō Araki and was animated by studio WIT. The studio handled the show's first 3 seasons, as well as 3 compilation films and 8 OVA stories. With the fourth and final current season, animation duties were handed over to studio MAPPA, with various members of staff being switched for new crew members when the show returned in March 2021. Funimation has handled the license in the west, with the distributor set to create a new English simuldub that began on February 13th.

While the delays may disappoint some fans, others may be curious to discover the reasoning behind the decision. As Attack On Fans stated, with the show's presence at AnimeJapan 2022, perhaps there may be an announcement regarding the show's future. No matter what the answer may be, Attack on Titan fans will have to wait a little while longer for the culmination of Eren's tale.

A third part to the so-called final season seemed as inevitable as the paths that Eren Yeager is forced to take. But when exactly will Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3 come out?

TVアニメ「進撃の巨人」The Final Season完結編 放送決定告知映像

During the Anime Japan 2022 Red Stage event on March 27, 2022, no new information was announced. The cast of AoT simply hosted a special stage to discuss certain scenes from the broadcast of the TV anime Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2.

As previously mentioned, Attack On Titan Final Season Special Event 2022 is very likely to make more announcements on Sunday, November 13, 2022. There will be an orchestra concert featuring guest vocalists at 1 PM JST (midnight EST). The special talk involving the main cast and guest artists will start at 6:30 PM JST (5:30 AM EST).

On March 20, 2022, it was confirmed that the finale in Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12 will be titled The Dawn of Humanity after manga Chapter 130, the final chapter in Volume 32. Since that is not the ending of the manga’s story, there were two options: finish with an Attack On Titan: The Rumbling movie or continue the story with Attack On Titan Episode 88 in a third cour in the anime TV series.

What’s a “cour,” you might ask? For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a “cour” is a three-month TV broadcasting block based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes.

Attack On Titan: The Final Season is technically considered a split-cour anime season.

A “split-cour” is where a single anime season takes a multi-month break before resuming TV broadcasting.

Part 1 was unusual in that it began broadcasting at the end of the Fall 2020 cour and finished in the following Winter 2021 cour.

This key visual for Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 was released on April 3, 2022.

Fast-forward to early Winter 2022 and Attack On Titan: The Final Season was listed on FUNimation’s site with 28 episodes in total. Since Part 1 was 16 episodes long, it was known ahead of time that Part 2 would only have 12 episodes. In addition, it was confirmed during Anime Japan 2022 that the Part 2 Blu-Ray/DVD release would only include 12 episodes.

Based on that information, it was known that Attack On Titan Episode 87 would be the finale for Part 2. Due to a TV schedule conflict with special programming, the Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12 release date was on April 3, 2022 (no new episode was aired on March 27, 2022).

The Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music hasn’t been announced yet.

This article provides everything known about Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 (Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3 / Attack On Titan: The Final Season Part 3 / Attack On Titan Season 6) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.

Crunchyroll’s Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 English dub release date

FUNimation’s Attack On Titan Season 4 English dub was first released in Winter 2021. In early February 2022, Crunchyroll and FUNimation announced that the Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 English dub release date was February 13, 2022.

SnK Season 4 is streaming internationally with English subtitles and English dubbed audio on Crunchyroll in the USA, Canada, U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and Latin America.

Toonami’s Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 dub began releasing on February 12, 2022.

Netflix’s Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 release date is only for streaming in Japan, the Philippines, and other select Netflix territories. As of September 2022, Netflix is not (yet) streaming the latest Attack On Titan episodes in the USA and other English-speaking countries. Netflix USA only has the first 25 episodes.

Crunchyroll’s Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 English dub release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Nor has Crunchyroll’s Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 dub been announced.

The previous English dubs were handled by Funimation. In early 2022, after Sony purchased Funimation it was announced that the streaming service was being phased out and content was being shifted to Crunchyroll. Hopefully, future English dubbing will be faster once the COVID pandemic winds down and becomes endemic. In order to protect voice actors from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to temporarily pause production or take extra safety precautions that resulted in slowed work.

Many English dubbing houses have experienced delays since voice actors often travel to the recording studio. By mid-2022 Crunchyroll began switching from remote recording to in-studio recording again (most of the work is done in their Texas studio).

Why Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 is necessary

The announcement that the supposed final season would have a Part 2 was not much of a surprise. Netflix Japan was teasing the Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 anime months in advance by listing Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season Part 1, which implied that there would be a Part 2.

In fall 2020, sound director Masafumi Mima tweeted a photo of a desk where he was apparently working on the sound work. What jumped out in the photo (besides the filthy keyboard that he apparently replaced after everyone noticed) was that Attack On Titan “Final Season Part 1” was clearly listed.

There were no similar leaks pointing to Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3. Instead, it was a logical conclusion early on based on the number of episodes for Part 2 and the overall adaptation pacing of the anime TV series.

The 800-ton titan in the room was the limited number of episodes being made for AoT S4 Part 2. Some anime fans were hoping that Part 2 would have a similar number of episodes as Part 1 and finish the story’s ending with around 14 to 16 episodes.

Instead, S4 Part 2 had only 12 episodes which either meant the story pacing would increase at some point or the intention was always to finish the story with Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3. But we could look to the history of the anime series to see that a fast-paced ending seemed unlikely.

The first cour of Season 1 adapted 20 chapters, while the second cour adapted 16 chapters with 12 episodes. Similarly, the Clash of the Titans story arc of Season 2 was a ratio of 16 chapters to 12 episodes.

The third season increased the pacing by adapting the 40 chapters of two story arcs with 22 episodes. Part 2 of the third season adapted the ending of Chapter 90 of Volume 22.

The first 8 episodes of Season 4 Part 1 adapted roughly 15 chapters, whereas the next 8 episodes only adapted 11 more chapters. With 26 chapters adapted, that left 23 more chapters before reaching the manga’s ending in Attack On Titan Chapter 139.

Ending Part 1 with Chapter 116 was a good stopping point since it resolved short-term conflicts, offered a gut-punch of a major character development moment, and then left anime fans hanging right before the Marley invasion began.

Part 2 (Attack On Titan Episode 76) picked up the story again in Volume 29: Chapter 117 – Judgement. The anime episode also adapted scenes from previous chapters, 114: Support and 115: Above and Below, since it was the beginning of a new cour.

Attack On Titan Episode 77 is officially named after Chapter 118: Sneak Attack, Attack On Titan Episode 78 after Chapter 119: Two Brothers, Attack on Titan Episode 79 after Chapter 121: Memories of the Future, Attack On Titan Episode 80 after Chapter 122: From You, 2,000 Years Ago, and Attack On Titan Episode 81 after Chapter 124: Thaw.

The Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 7 release date was where the anime version took an interesting turn. The Attack On Titan Episode 82 story summary discusses Annie waking up, but the episode’s title is based on Chapter 125: Sunset.

From there, Attack On Titan Episode 83 was named after Chapter 126: Pride. But, wait, did the anime just skip a chapter? Rather than moving Chapter 123: Island Devils to Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3, it turned out that the flashback arc was being temporarily skipped and shifted around by the adaptation in order for the chapter’s story to act as the lead-up to the climax in the Part 2 finale.

Attack On Titan Episode 84 went on to adapt Chapter 127: Night of the End, Episode 85 adapted Chapter 128: Traitor, and Episode 86 adapted Chapter 129: Retrospective. Then, Episode 87 skipped the OP and ED in order to adapt the previously skipped Chapter 123: Island Devils before finishing with Chapter 130: The Dawn of Humanity.

Based on that adaptation pacing, and including the rearranged content, that leaves 9 chapters for the anime to finish the story. Again, it’s very likely that the adaptation pacing will increase at certain points of the story, but that stopping point leaves plenty of room for Attack On Titan: The Final Season Part 3 to be a short, single-cour TV finale.

Presumably, Attack On Titan Episode 88: The Rumbling will pick up the story again in Chapter 131.

Arguably, an Attack On Titan movie ending the story would have been a better fit if Episode 87 had corresponded to Chapter 133: Sinners since the remaining six chapters would have been the perfect fit for a two-hour movie. But most anime fans would probably prefer the final story arc be adapted by an anime TV series.

Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3 release date predictions: Is Summer or Fall 2023 likely?

As of the last update, MAPPA or any company related to the production of the anime has not officially confirmed the exact Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 release date. On April 3, 2022, the release time frame was confirmed to be 2023.

Once the news is officially confirmed this article will be updated with the relevant information. In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when the Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3 release date will occur in the future.

Studio MAPPA has been given a seat on the anime production committee for Attack On Titan’s final season. A committee is a group of companies invested in an anime project that shares both the risk and the rewards.

As such, MAPPA has a vested interest in making the final season as successful as possible. They should also have more control over how the story ends. Whether the final nine chapters are adapted by a movie or a Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3, the real issue becomes the availability of Studio MAPPA. They’ve grown rapidly in recent years, and in early March 2022, they even announced that they’re opening a special sub-studio focused on providing CGI art for their projects.

Arguably, Studio MAPPA already has enough projects on its full plate in 2022. There’s Chainsaw Man, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Disney+’s Dance Dance Danseur, Kakegurui Twin, Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory, and the Yuri on Ice movie.

Considering that the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie box office in Japan broke the records previously set by Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, it wasn’t surprising that the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 release date was announced for 2023, as well. There’s also the upcoming Zombieland Saga movie about aliens that’s in the works.

Therefore, in order to keep up the animation quality by giving the final season a good production schedule, it’s predicted that the Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 release date will be in mid to late 2023. Stay tuned!
