After sometime, the service technician told that the timing chain is extended by 5" and will need to be replaced in next 5K/10K miles. Quoted around $2500 for timing chain replacement! I asked for a service quote and got a sticky note!! Has anyone with Q5 run into this issue? If so, can you share your experience? thanks in advance.

I posted the part list and there's a dedicated thread over at Audizine. There should be one here too but the moderators haven't done it which is a shame. The screen is probably ripped off your cam bridge. I would run short oil change intervals and consider switching to an oil for direct injection (GDI/DFI) engines.

The value can be significantly worse on a hot engine. Your timing chain is ready to be replaced either way at 4.44 and I would do tensioners and guides while you're in there. I have several posts here including part numbers and costs. Good luck
