How Samsung's Trade-In Works

Samsung runs its trade-in program through its own website when you go through the process of ordering a new phone. You can trade in a smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch with the program. Samsung also allows you to trade in multiple devices during your order, depending on what you want to purchase.

You are required to select the device's condition, either good or cracked. If you're still using the phone you want to trade, Samsung will send you your new purchase before you need to send your old one. Once you receive your new device, you have fifteen days to send Samsung your old product for trade-in. If for whatever reason you don't send it after getting the new one, or it was not as described, Samsung can remotely disable your new product.

Samsung even offers incentives to trade in your old devices, such as increased credit on the first product you trade in for a limited time. You can even get guaranteed credit for a Galaxy device that is in any condition.

Samsung Trade-In Eligibility Requirements

Samsung takes a wide variety of devices from many manufacturers. In terms of smartphones, it takes phones from Apple, Google, LG, OnePlus, Samsung, and more. Samsung takes phones that are generations old, all the way to current smartphones.

To be eligible to trade in your phone and get the credit, your device must fulfill specific requirements depending on its condition.

If your device is damaged:

• It needs to be able to be turned on, and be fully functional.
• The charging port needs to be fully functional.
• The device can't be locked or contain your data.
• The camera needs to work.
• Your device can't be blacklisted, which means it can't be marked as lost or stolen.

If your device is in good condition:

• It must fulfill all the above requirements.
• The screen, frame, and camera lenses also need to be free of any cracks.

It's also essential to note that if your current device is on an installment plan through a carrier, you will still have to make payments to your carrier until it has been paid off.

If your device passes those requirements, Samsung should have no issue with it.

The Trade-In Steps

Samsung’s steps for the trade-in process are straightforward. First, you must select the model you want to purchase, then the trade-in device. Next, you’ll need to see if you meet the requirements for trade-in. If so, you can factory-erase your device.
