Check out this thread... The hole specifications for the oil pressure sending switch are: If someone really needs the detail GM drawing, I can fax them one or I may be able to E-Mail it. Somewhere I saw an adapter that sandwiches between the oil filter adapter and the filter itself that has two threaded holes (probably US pipe threads) on the side. I think some of the gauge suppliers sell them. That may be the easiest solution. That way you could still
keep the idiot light sensor in its original location. Here's Dan's 3.5L setup. I suspect the 3.7 is the same. Use the port 90° to the front of the truck from the stock sending unit. It's an M16x1.5 thread. You can find adapters M16x1.5 to 1/8NPT online or at autoazone. I also used a 1/8NPT elbow to turn the sending unit towards the passenger side.

Discussion Starter · #3 · May 30, 2015 Thanks Rich, I'll look at mine when I get back home in the morning. I must have missed seeing that spot Dan used. If it is there on mine bingo! What thread pitch is a GM oil pressure sensor? The oil psi thread adapter features a 1/8-27 NPT female thread for the gauge's sensor and a 16mm male thread that installs to the LS engine. The included o-ring ensures a leak-free connections between the sensor and engine.
What is the thread size on a oil pressure switch?NPT are 27 threads/inch and BPST is 28. They are almost interchangeable and as long as you can get a turn and half past max hand tight on it, it should seal with a high quality, high temp, automotive grade teflon tape.
What size is the oil pressure sensor? The oil psi sensor should be 13/16”. Usually the local parts stores sell Lisle tools.
What tools do I need to change my oil pressure sensor? The tools needed to replace an oil pressure sensor will vary, depending on the type of car you have.. Jack and jack stands.. Oil pressure sensor socket (recommended). Ratchet and socket set.. Repair manual or access to a repair database.. Safety glasses.. Torque wrench.. Wheel chocks.. |
