The artist is new to me, and now I'm a fan, intend to purchase the entire album. If you like female vocalists, there is no doubt you will enjoy this one. She doesn't remind me of anyone, her voice and style are unique, pleasant, easy to listen to. The music captures you and won't let go. The recording quality is definitely high end audiophile sound. Highly recommended! Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on February 28, 2007 When I first played the CD...I thought my CD player was broken...or that there was something wrong with this new CD! However, in checking the case a little closer, it said: QUOTE "2 track single, EXPECT TO PAY NO MORE THAN $2.00." Unquote I paid three times that amount without being told I was getting 2 songs. That's not truthful advertising or honest pricing! I'm NOT disappointed in the singer, Ms. Corinne Bailey Rae, but I surely didn't realize I was paying that much for 2 teeny songs!! signed..."disappointed in the marketing!" Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on January 30, 2007 I love her music. However, I didn't realize until I got the CD that there are only two tracks on it. It was like getting an old 45 record or a demo tape. Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on November 26, 2012 Nice easy listening tune, puts a combination of Natalie Cole and Etta James with a dash of Mariah thrown in.
Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on October 21, 2014 Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on August 4, 2014 Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on April 18, 2006 Corinne Bailey Rae is a rising star who I predict will go very far. Her sultry bluesy voice is extraordinary. Put Your Records On is an upbeat carefree type of song that sounds better each time I hear it. Reviewed in the United States πΊπΈ on April 26, 2006 This is the type of music I can meditate to, put in my office for my employees to mello out to. i really love it. i play it everyday while i am working and it creates a non stress atmosphere. norah jones got nothing on this lady. Top reviews from other countries5.0 out of 5 stars Best Song By Miles from the Occasionally Contented Songstress Reviewed in the United Kingdom π¬π§ on July 23, 2009 With the benefit of hindsight, and having lived with these recordings for a few years now, "Put Your Records On" is the best song from Corinne's self-titled 2006 album. Helped along by a video that looked as if it had been commissioned by an advertising agency ("Buy this record, and *you* could be cycling down a country lane on a summer's day with this beautiful woman", it seemed to say), the song benefits from a superbly nuanced and soulful vocal performance from Corinne Bailey Rae, plus an understated backing from her band. I recall at the time several magazine features and interviews in which she came across as an uncharacteristically well-balanced and contented individual, happily married, grounded in real life etc. Since then lurid tabloid stories have cast doubt on some of that, but transport yourself back to the pre-Amy Winehouse days of wholesome, healthy Corinne's peak with this wondrous CD single and get the highlight of her 2006 album. Perhaps prophetically, the B-side is called "Another Rainy Day", but for now forget the rain, wheel out that bicycle and cycle down some summer country lanes in search of the spirit of this superb singer. 4.0 out of 5 stars Four Stars Reviewed in the United Kingdom π¬π§ on July 13, 2015 5.0 out of 5 stars 21st century classic. Reviewed in Canada π¨π¦ on February 21, 2015 Songs like this give me some hope for music in the 21st century when there seems to be very few songs each year that qualify as future classics. I think this one will hold the test of time.
