This October, spend some time outside enjoying the last of the sunshine before the winter covers everything in a blanket of snow. At Kensington Metropark, you can enjoy the fall colors on a hayride to and from a pumpkin patch.

Whether you want to paint pumpkins or are looking forward to carving Halloween pumpkins you can select the perfect pumpkin here. Hayrides are drawn by a tractor on weekdays and by horse on weekends should the weather allow.

This place has everything you could want to do on an October weekend with the family. Featuring a corn maze, spooky tractor rides (not actually very spooky), a straw maze and inflatable haunted house.

Anotehr Fun Halloween event at Kensington Metropark! Celebrate Halloween with fun, safe and non-scary trick-or-treating in the park for the whole family! Follow the path of pumpkins along our festive trail to find fall-themed photo opportunities and more. Who knows which costumed characters you might find along the way? Dress in your costume and bring your candy bucket to collect goodies – adults too!

Each household will start the trick-or-treat fun at slightly staggered times within their registered timeslot. The path is approximately .25 miles and covers grassy and moderately hilly ground. This event occurs entirely at the North Hickory Ridge picnic area- not the Kensington Nature Center.

Halloween Light Spooktacular at the New Salem Corn Maze

At the New Salem Corn Maze in Dorr, MI, the Witches of New Salem attraction takes over for the month of October. While plenty of terrifying activities are available, the Halloween Light Spooktacular stands out as a more family-oriented option. This is one of the top corn mazes in West Michigan, don’t miss the chance to visit.

Every Friday and Saturday throughout the month a wagon takes guests through a trail with bright Halloween lights that flash, synchronized with classic Halloween songs. The ride lasts for about 20 minutes and is suitable for all ages.

Pumpkinfest 2022 – Leila Arboretum

TreeRunner Adventure Park in Grand Rapids is the perfect place to let energetic kids burn off steam. This year, park-goers are anticipating the return of HallowGlow on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, throughout October.

During HallowGlow, the park takes its regular Glow Nights to the next level, loaded with glow stick decorations and plenty of lights to add Halloween flair, making it a fantastic party idea for a group of friends. Explore themed exhibits throughout the park between trails all while in costume. Then, enjoy some Halloween candies to conclude the 3-hour experience.

Pumpkin Painting – Sandcastles Children’s Museum

If your young ones love getting creative, the Sandcastles Children’s Museum is holding a pumpkin painting event.

Kids can choose whatever pumpkin they like and decorate it with paints and other crafting materials. And while you’re there, you can explore the museum’s three floors of fun activities and interactive displays that encourage your child to learn and play. Ludington is a beautiful place to explore in autumn, you might think about planning a road trip if you don’t live in the area!

Jack O Lantern World – Millennium Park in Grand Rapids

Come enjoy dazzling displays of glowing jack o’ lanterns in Millennium Park, all hand-carved by 50 artists. There are 17 different displays of thousands of jack o’ lanterns all coming together to form awesome shapes and creatures, including a dragon. This 45-minute walk is perfect for a family outing or date night.

Hurry, though! It’s recommended that you purchase your tickets as soon as possible, as time slots are limited. After buying your ticket, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.

New Salem Corn Maze

Visit this haunted corn maze in southwest Michigan, and be prepared for some spooky Halloween fun. This night time adventure will take you on a wild and ride of dead ends, twists & turns, confusion, mayhem and more.

Take a stroll down one of the two paths in the Witches Woods. It’s up to you on “witch” path to take, whether you take the “Twisted” or the “Wicked” you will scream around every corner. If you are really up for a challenge, try the Haunted Corn Maze. It will leave you out of breath as you crawl, walk or run your way through the twist and turns as you try to escape the crazy atmosphere.

Lighthouse Trick or Treat at the Muskegon South Pierhead Light

On Saturday, October 8th, the South Pierhead light in Muskegon is offering a unique trick-or-treat opportunity. Show up in costume from 2 pm to 5 pm for a free tour of the lighthouse.

For those without costumes, tours are still available. Expect to pay $5 for adults, $3 for 17 & under and veterans if you don’t wish to wear a costume.

There is no need to wait 300 years for the Sanderson sisters to return – the Kalamazoo State Theater is bringing Hocus Pocus back this year on Saturday, October 28th.

This favorite Halloween movie finds its way into many movie marathons and as anticipation for adaptation into a new iconic Halloween musical grows, there’s no better time to revisit this classic, so add it to your Halloween bucket list now.

Come dressed as your favorite Sanderson sister and snap a selfie at the photo booth to immortalize the night. Additionally, you can pet adoptable cats from the SPCA and snack on Sweetwater’s donut holes on site.

Blandford Halloween Hunt – Blandford Nature Center

Come to the Blandford Nature Center for a fun and spooky scavenger hunt! All children will receive a map and clue sheet, then explore the trails while learning creepy facts and stories about Michigan’s nature.

After solving all the mysteries, turn in your completed clue sheet and win a prize! Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Prizes are available until 4pm. Make sure to register, as unregistered children won’t receive prizes. This event will take place no matter the weather (unless severe), so come prepared. This event is recommended for children ages 5-12.

Halloween Hoopla at Avalanche Bay

Fort Fright at Colonial Michilimackinac, Mackinaw City

Fourteenth Annual Traverse City Zombie 5K Run

The Traverse City Zombie Run is a Halloween tradition! Over the years we’ve seen zombies from all walks of life, or should we say death. Who or what will show up this year?

Right Brain Brewery, one the top Traverse City breweries, will be hosting the run as always. Zombies and beer have always been a winning combination! Make sure to stick around after the race for the medal ceremony, costume prizes, music, post-race refreshments, and most of all zombie socializing.

Mackinac Island Halloween Weekend

The last weekend before Halloween weekend, from October 21 -23, Mackinac Island is celebrating the holiday. While Mackinac Island is already a fantastic family vacation destination, going for their Halloween Weekend celebration only adds to all the fun the island has to offer.

Activities include the Great Turtle Trail Run as well as a downtown Mackinac trick-or-treating event for kids. Adults can also enjoy fun Halloween party options throughout the island establishments.

Halloween Hayrides in Grayling

During the last weekend of October, from the 28-29, Wellington Farm Park in Grayling is offering Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Hayrides.

Perfect for couples or families with young children who prefer not to be scared, this hayride takes you through a forest illuminated by jack-o-lanterns of many different styles, all carved during the farm’s pumpkin carving contest.

A stop at the Summer Kitchen for a Halloween treat of cider and donuts beside the warm stove will break the ride into two parts. Expect to return to the Visitors Center afterward.

Ghosts of Lighthouse Point Marquette Maritime Museum & Lighthouse

On October 14th-16th, the Marquette Maritime Museum and Lighthouse offers a haunted tour. Learn about northern Michigan’s maritime history and get into the spooky spirit all while supporting the museum and NMU Food Pantry with the donation of one canned good with admission.

The 7 pm-8 pm tours are kid and family-friendly, while the later tours are intended for teens and adults, so keep that in mind when planning a visit.

Gladstone Trunk or Treat

7th Annual Fright Night in Manistique

Join us for a spooky night at the ONLY Drive-In Movie Theater in the Upper Peninsula for the seventh-annual Fright Night at the Drive-in! Saturday, October 29 at dusk, we will be screening the 2019 animated kid-friendly movie “Addams Family”, followed by the 1999 classic, “The Blair Witch Project”, and “Legacy of Blood.”

There will be intermissions between movies to allow for people to enter and exit the field.
The gates open at 5:30 pm with time to set up for the crowd-favorite, Trunk-or-Treat! There will be prizes for the best-decorated trunks, as well as the best Halloween costumes
