If you post something on your Facebook profile page that you later regret, you can delete the Facebook post. If someone else tags you in a post, you can untag yourself – and file a complaint with Facebook if it's abusive or harassing. If you want to post something that only you can see, or change a post so that only you can see it, you can also use a special privacy setting that lets you do so. Show How to Delete a Facebook PostIf there is a post on your Facebook timeline that you want to delete, click the "..." button next to the post. If you then click "Delete," the post will be removed from Facebook and nobody, including you, will be able to see it. If the post was a photo, the process is similar. Click the photo; click the "Options" button, and then click "Delete This Photo." You can do this with any material posted to your timeline, whether you posted it or someone else did. Untagging Yourself From PostsIf someone else posts something and tags you in it, whether it's a photo or a text post, you can't delete that post because you're not the one who created it. You can, however, untag yourself from the post. To do so, click the down-arrow button next to the post, and then click "Remove Tag." Keep in mind that if the post mentions you or a photo includes your image, other people may still be able to see it and recognize your name or picture even if you're not tagged in it. If you want the post removed entirely, contact the person who posted it. You can't delete a Facebook post someone else posted. If the post is threatening, harassing or otherwise seems to violate Facebook's policies, you can report it to Facebook. To do this, click the "..." menu, and then click "Give Feedback." You'll be able to fill out a brief form indicating what's wrong with the post and why it should be removed. Using the "Only Me" Privacy SettingYou can post something on Facebook that only you can see. You might do this if you're using Facebook as a way to save photos that you don't want to make public or notes to yourself, or if you want to see how something looks on the Facebook site and apps before making it public. Whatever the reason, you can choose this setting when you're creating a new post or updating the privacy settings on an old one. If you're posting something new, use the drop-down menu near the "Post" button to choose an audience for your post. The menu will show by default the last privacy option you used, which is often "Friends" or "Public." If you choose "Friends," only your Facebook friends can see the post. If you choose "Public," anyone can see it. You can also create a custom list of people who can see the post or choose "Only Me," in which case only you can see it when you're logged into your own Facebook account. If you've already created the post, you can still change its audience. There is an audience selector next to the timestamp on the post that you can use in the same way as the one used when creating a post. Keep in mind that if you restrict the audience of an existing post or even delete a Facebook post, it's possible that people have already seen it in the time that it had the more permissive setting. Here's how to delete all Facebook posts at once and archive your activity with the Manage Activity tool in a web browser or in the mobile app. Bulk Delete Posts Using Facebook in a Web BrowserThe first step to deleting your old Facebook posts is to select the posts you no longer want (up to 50 at a time). There are a couple of ways to do that, including filtering posts if you want to delete something specific.
How to Manage Your Posts in the Facebook AppIn the Manage section of Facebook settings, you can delete, archive, or restore content. This feature is currently only available on the Facebook mobile app.
Can't Delete Some Posts? You might notice that when you try to delete some posts, the deletion option is grayed out, and you can only select the hide option. This might occur for specific posts like profile picture updates, posts that weren't created by you, or posts with particular privacy settings. For posts you're unable to delete using the manage posts option, you can delete those posts individually. Find the posts on your Timeline, select the three dots in the upper-right corner of the individual post, and select Delete. Consider limiting your past posts in your settings, so previous posts you shared with friends of friends or the public are changed to be shared with only your friends. On Facebook.com, select the down arrow then choose Settings > Privacy > Limit Past Posts. Select Limit Past Posts to confirm. This setting doesn't appear to be accessible in the mobile app. How to Delete Your Activity Log on Facebook FAQ
