  • How do you open a Hyundai Santa Fe key fob?

I dropped my Hyundai Santa Fe key fob in some water, and now it doesn’t work all the time. How can I open up my key fob to see if the battery is damaged?

You can definitely open your Hyundai Sante Fe key fob and check for internal damage. Just follow these steps:

  • Turn your key fob over and find a small silver button. Push this to release the key.
  • Insert the key into the keyhole and gently turn until the key fob pops open

At this point, you should be able to see if any moisture got inside your key fob. If this is the case, you may need a full replacement instead of just a replacement battery. You can always replace the battery and see if that solves the problem as this is much cheaper than buying a new key fob.

Changing your key fob battery yourself can save money, and so can downloading the Jerry app and comparing rates on car insurance coverage.

How do I open my Hyundai key fob?

If you drive a relatively new Hyundai, start by removing the metal key by pressing and holding the metal tab or button. Next, use the metal key to open up the back cover on your Hyundai key fob by inserting it into the tiny opening and turning it in either direction. The case should then pop open.
