And, there's an easy trick to do so. All you need to do is play with the Settings and use your fingers to tap on your iPhone's back. Don't understand? Let us explain.

Take iPhone screenshots without pressing a button

For this, we will use the “back Tap” function as a shortcut for taking screenshots. You can also use the Back Tap feature for other shortcuts in iOS. All one needs to do is double or triple tap right above the Apple logo to initiate the shortcut.

-Head over to the Settings app on your iPhone.

-Look for Accessibility and open it.

-Then look for Touch and within that, open Back Tap.

-Choose double or triple tap, then choose screenshot.

-One done, do the tap function on the back of your iPhone and it will take a screenshot.

-Back Tap also works with cases on, hence you can simply pat your iPhone's back to take a screenshot at any situation, without pressing the pesky button combo.

-Apart from screenshots, you choose from over a dozen activities, Siri shortcuts, and more functions to assign to the back tap. Sadly, you only get the options of double or triple tap.

You can do this,

Settings>general>accessibility>assistive touch (click on)

A dot should appear when you click on assistive touch, then go into devices and lock screen will appear. Touch the lock screen and press the home button at the same time and it will screen shot.

You can take a screenshot without the assistive touch menu appearing. First you press the white button and the button on the right should say device. Click device. Then it takes you to another menu, press the 'more' button and then there should be a button saying 'screenshot'. Check your photo album and there should hopefully be a picture with the assistive touch menu. I hope this helps.

You'll need to get that fixed.

I fixed my powerbutton easily with some

water repellent oil. I dont know what its called, it is that thing you use for locks and hinges anyway. My iphone powerbutton has been working for like 7 months now. There is no difference from when it was new! I can really recomend this. Just remember to turn of the phone and have it upside down when you spray. And dont use to much! Theres no need for more than a few drops.

This is not an effective solution to the problem, at least not in my case, because when you do take the screen shot, the assistive touch menu is shown in the image.

I have tried this. Once I click the 'device' option, my only choices are: rotate screen, lock screen, volume up, volume down, shake, and unmute, there is no 'more' option. Can you elaborate?

Go to your assisted touch menu. Click "device". There should be a "more" option. In that menu, there should be a screenshot button

Sara.pee15, as previously discussed, the original poster has a 3G iPod and those can only go to iOS 5.1.1. That iOS version does NOT have the option to use Assistive touch to take a screen shot. That option is iOS 6.
