Hi ladies,

I forget if I took my prenatal today so I didn't want to double up. Do you know if it's really bad to miss one dose in second trimester?

Prob just being neurotic but you know how it is!

I take 1 like every 3 or 4 days. they make me nauseous so I just can't. yes they're beneficial but I don't think it's a make or break. they've only become common the last 20 or so years.. humanity was fine without them prior with just nutritional food to eat

I've missed several random days it's no biggie, I don't double up ur body can only absorb so much in a day

I am not even taking prenatals this time around (already have other supplements I'm taking) and my doctor said that was totally fine. Don't stress.

I've been so sick that I've only taken mine about 1-2 weeks out of 15. I was the same way with my last pregnancy and all was well!

On days where I would throw up anything I put in my mouth, I skipped. I knew as soon as I swallowed it, it would just come back up so there would be no point wasting it. You're fine mama. :)

I take like one a week, lol everything is still growing perfectly fast and normal!

Yes just being neurotic. People in this world are doing meth instead of vitamins.... and some of those babies come out fine.... just saying.

Don't sweat it. The primary reason we take the prenatal vitamins is to ensure we get enough folic acid, which is also added to almost every food we eat... pretzels, whole wheat bread, crackers...you name it! I'm sure you get more than enough without the vitamin already so a day will definitely not hurt you.

I have never taken one... all is well

If you have a relatively balanced diet, missing prenatals is really no biggie.

Prenatals are recommended across the board because it is a fail-safe. No matter how crappy or limited someone's diet is (and I'm talking, impoverished, war-torn country bad), a prenatal can cover the vast majority of micronutrient needs (really it's just a matter of calories and protein after that point).

There are tons of women who never take a prenatal and have completely healthy babies (and of course, there are women who take every prenatal and will have a baby with NTDs, etc) - prenatals are a plus, but I wouldn't stress about the past.

Is it OK to skip one day of prenatal vitamins?

During that time, it's incredibly important that you get the right amount of folic acid. However, missing a day or two of taking your prenatal probably isn't going to make a difference for you or your baby as long as you remember to take your prenatal the rest of the time.

Will my baby be OK if I didn't take prenatal vitamins?

Even if you eat a super healthy diet, you still need prenatal vitamins. It takes a lot of vitamins and minerals to grow a baby! Folic acid helps your baby's brain and spinal cord develop correctly. This nutrient reduces the risk of serious birth defects called spina bifida and anencephaly.
