Days of Our Lives often has a revolving cast
of characters. But, unfortunately, a fan favorite may soon be leaving the canvas. Marci Miller, who plays Abigail Deveraux on Days, is reportedly leaving the show for good. While nothing has officially been confirmed as of yet, some outlets are confirming that her death has been teased in future episodes. When Miller returned to Days of Our Lives on Sept. 10, things were really shaky, in
the beginning, for the “Chabby” ship. According to SoapHub, Abby’s return to Salem is nothing if not a reluctant one. And even though she’s keen to work on her marital problems with Chad, other issues came up that threw flies in the proverbial ointment. There was some speculation that the Days of Our Lives power couple isn’t going to last. It’s normal for long-time soap opera couples to break up, only to get back together again through some stroke of fate. (In this case, that “stroke of fate” is Ron Carlivati’s pen.) But this time, “Chabby”
felt…different. Now, this is all just speculation, of course. Days of Our Lives has a funny way of turning things around in ways we least expect it. But, it seems, the concern about the “ship” crashing was the correct one. Because, according to new reports, there will be no more “Chabby” because there’s no more Abby. A new report from
Celeb Dirty Laundry speculates that Miller is gone from Days of Our Lives for good. The outlet claims that Miller is leaving the show to spend more time with her new baby and that her final episode has already been taped. What’s more, the outlet claims that Miller’s character of Abigail
Devereaux DiMera won’t be reprised by Kate Mansi or any other actor, because the character has been killed off the show. “Neither Kate Mansi nor Marci Miller wants to stick around long-term, so the show would apparently rather write Abigail out than try to recast again,” reports the outlet. “Naturally, a big murder is also good for shock value and a ratings boost. There’s no word yet on when exactly this murder will go down, but multiple insiders confirm that it’s indeed happening. It’s a good idea to be prepared for the tragic exit ahead for Abigail and the dramatic fallout that’ll follow.” However, the outlet also makes clear that there has been no official word from Days of Our Lives — or Miller herself — about this alleged departure. The outlet only claims that “insiders are reporting” this. The outlet also doesn’t state when Miller is due to be leaving, and when her final episode will air. But then again… it is DOOL. And dead doesn’t always mean dead. Is Abby gone for good? With Abigail bleeding out on Monday’s episode, it certainly looks like she’s dead and gone. Does that mean Marci Miller is done at DOOL? The answer, unfortunately, is yes – Abby’s met her maker. There’s no Dr. Rolf (William Utay) serum revival – or at least that’s what they said. But you know characters came back from worse on the soap. Marci Miller’s leaving Days of our Lives and Billy Flynn (aka Chad DiMera) said a sad goodbye to his scene partner on that episode. Now, spoilers say he must tell his children that their mother is gone. Showrunner Ron Carlivati told Soap Digest that they decided to kill off Abigail because Marci couldn’t stay on contract because of other commitments. The actress recently wrapped two feature films – Parallel Worlds: A Rock-n-Roll Love Story and Gimme My Money. Will Abby be Recast on DOOL? Kate Mansi Coming Back?What about a recast? Could they bring back Kate Mansi to the NBC soap? Well… She’s also busy. Mansi’s starring in a new series called Casa Grande. And so they said they decided against recasting the role of Abby because Mansi couldn’t commit to a contract either. Carlivati told SOD that it’s possible that Abigail’s “death is not permanent” acknowledging that especially in Salem — dead isn’t always the end.  But it certainly looks like a final ending for Abigail – and that’s how the writers intended it to feel. So, while Abigail Deveraux is leaving Days of our Lives, never say never. Should things change for one of the actresses who’ve played her, they could change things. But the head writer said they wanted it to feel final. Now, characters close to her can grieve and move on after the loss. Marci Miller out at Days of our Lives – Will They Ever Revive Abigail?On the Abigail death episode, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) said that even Dr. Rolf couldn’t heal her because he’d lost too much blood. Yet. we’ve seen the DiMera mad scientist bring back people from worse. So, it’s very likely that should Miller or Mansi become available, they could find a way to bring her back. If it’s not a save from Rolf’s serum, they could say someone else died wearing an Abby mask. It is Days of our Lives after all… Soon, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) is back, along with Jennifer Horton (recast Cady McClain). They arrive in Salem to say their goodbyes to their precious Abby. Then, they must answer the question of who killed Abigail Deveraux. There are already several suspects. And several more emerge, promise head honcho Carlivati. For now, keep your tissues handy, there’s more sadness to come. Abigail Deveraux leaves Days of our Lives this week, and a sad funeral and more tears are ahead.
