New businesses coming to navarre fl 2022

Exterior construction is almost complete on a new Publix in Navarre that is expected to be the anchor of a shopping complex that will open at the end of this year.

The Wynnehaven Plaza will be a 57,750-square-foot shopping center just outside of the Wynnehaven Beach community on U.S. 98. Georgia-based firm Branch Properties is managing the development.

Branch Properties Chief Investment Officer Jesse Shannon said Friday that the expansion into the area is largely driven by Publix's development plan, but the firm has been increasingly interested in the Panhandle as pandemic trends have shifted a large population to this area.

"Coming out of the pandemic, there have been some patterns in employment and job growth that have been focused in Florida and especially in that Panhandle area," he said.

Developers haven't yet announced any of the other tenants in the complex, but there are 9,750 square feet reserved for other shops and a 4,800-square-foot pad on the U.S. 98 frontage that will be available for lease in addition to the roughly 50,000-square-foot grocery store and liquor store.

Shannon said the leases for those additional sites will likely be negotiated over the next six months but as of this week, most infrastructure is in place, the walls and shelves are finished on the Publix site, and paving and landscaping will come next.

"We're trying to meet the community needs here for grocery and this is an extremely vibrant corridor where we're excited to deliver that, so hopefully we're embraced by the community," Shannon said.

Branch Properties is also managing the development of the Milton Publix, which Shannon said is on the same timeline of being opened sometime during fourth quarter of 2022.

The roughly 66,000-square-foot shopping center fronting Dogwood Drive will provide Milton with its first Publix and additional retail and dining shops.

Also in Navarre, German-based grocer ALDI opened a store on U.S. 98 earlier this month as the first store in the chain's much-anticipated Panhandle expansion.

Another Santa Rosa County ALDI store along U.S. 90 in Pace is in planning stages and two in Pensacola are under construction — one on Blue Angel Parkway and another on Mobile Highway. The opening dates of the other three stores have not yet been announced.

The developer for a potential commercial shopping center – Navarre Town Center – says the project is moving right along. The Navarre Press first reported on the possible Navarre Town Center in March.

The center, which is being considered for future development by Robert “Bob” Benaquis, would essentially be a downtown shopping center in Navarre.
