i started with this and it was stronger than i expected.

I would begin with the layer sandwich method for the first month or so (freshly washed face, put on some moisturiser, then put on your retinol, then put on more moisturiser)

I stupidly assumed it was creamy looking, so treated like a moisturiser, and used it straight onto my freshly washed face. .......and i was a scaley, dry skin, peeling monster for the rest of the week.

Even now I still sandwich my retinol between a thin initial moisturiser layer, retinol, and then a thick super sluggy layer. It it does work:) my skin is looking great:)

My skincare routine has been a bit lackluster lately and it shows. I was gifted a nice sonic face scrubber for Christmas but know I need to be doing more than just washing my face (currently using Olay Regenerist).

I’m nearing 40. So I’m really looking for advice on retinol creams, anti-aging stuff, etc. is a serum something I should be looking at too? A different face wash?

I’ve used R+F in the past and while I really liked it, it’s just too much money to have to buy all the things every month or so.

What are your go to products? What can’t you live without?

I am a 63 (m) and had a dermatologist address some face blemishes I had through 3 sessions. My wife told me I should try Olay Retinol 24 night cream after my sessions were complete. At session 2, the dermatologist recommended Olay or a similar product (Roc and one other I can't remember).

I have been using Olay Retinol 24 for 3 weeks. AMAZING. No irritation and my skin is noticeably smoother and far more moist. I have NEVER used a specialized face cream my entire life until this. I wish I would have done so 20 years ago+. Unbelieveable results.

It is expensive for us (at $28 for the 1.7 size), but we shopped around and found it for $22 and $24). Once again, my wife nailed it.

They don’t disclose the concentration. However, while concentration is important, formulation is even more so since retinol is highly unstable and you want something that actually has retinol in the final product that will convert to retinoic acid on your skin. I would recommend buying from companies that have been doing retinol for a long time and have a lot of R&D behind them. If you want to an affordable drugstore retinol, I would go for brands like Neutrogena, ROC, Olay, or L’oreal over The Ordinary. They don’t disclose most of their products’ retinol concentrations but personally I would trust them more to get it right.

If you really want to know the concentration, which I understand, perhaps Differin will be a better option. L’oreal revitalift derm intensives night serum has 0.3% retinol which is a good beginner strength. And from all the Neutrogena options, it seems they only disclose the strength of their rapid wrinkle repair retinol oil which has 0.3% retinol. If you don’t mind the price and want a trustworthy brand with higher retinol concentrations, Skinceuticals has 0.3, 0.5, and 1% options as well.

How long does it take for Olay Regenerist retinol 24 to work?

How long does it take for Olay Retinol24 to work? There is no silver bullet when it comes to skincare. According to Olay's studies, 28 days showed noticeable change.

Can you use Olay retinol 24 every night?

Although retinoic acid, the prescription-strength version (which you may know as Retin-A or Tretinoin), can cause redness and flaking, the latest over-the-counter retinol formulas, like Olay Regenerist Retinol 24, are super gentle and can be used every day.

Why does Olay retinol 24 cause peeling?

Why retinoids cause your skin to peel. Topical retinoids, such as Tretinoin, speed up the skin cell turnover cycle, ridding of the old layer of skin faster than usual. This causes your skin to become dry and flakey, as your skin purges and peels to become accustomed to the retinoid.

Does Olay retinol 24 cause purging?

Does the Olay Retinol24 cause purging? Retinol increases the cell turnover rate which can cause purging but that does not mean it will happen to everyone.
