Heat is essentially your dog’s period, but it is a little different to the human menstrual cycle. For dogs, it is called the Canine Estrous Cycle. You might also note mounting and receptive behaviour changes towards male dogs. Tail PositionYour dog will hold her tail in different positions during the stages of her cycle.
