The most frequent causes of a PC not being able to install Windows 11 are that it does not have enough hardware capacity or is incompatible. Another possibility is that the media you used in the installation has been faulty or corrupt.

Windows 11 won’t install

Windows 11 installation has failed, don’t worry! We’ve put together a few workarounds to help you out.

If you’re having problems installing Windows 11 on your PC, don’t panic! There are a few things you can try to get it up and running. First, make sure you meet the system requirements for Windows 11. Your PC must have:

– An Intel Core i3 8th Gen or later

– 4 GB of RAM

– At least 20 GB of free disk space

– A graphics card with DirectX 9 support and WDDM 1.0 driver

If your device doesn’t meet these requirements, you won’t be able to install Windows 11.

If your device meets the system requirements but you’re still having problems installing Windows 11, try some of the following workarounds:

– Make sure your PC is up to date. Install all the latest updates from Microsoft before trying to install Windows 11.

– Use the Media Creation Tool to create a USB or DVD installation media.

– If you’re using an older version of Windows, you may need to upgrade to a newer version before you can install Windows 11.

If you’re having trouble putting Windows 11 on your computer, it’s probably because your PC isn’t compatible. If you can’t install Windows 11 on your PC, though, there are a few tried-and-true solutions below in no particular order that may help you out.

Check hardware requirements for Windows 11

  1. Enable Secure Boot
  2. Enable TPM 2.0 (Very very important!)
  3. Create new installation media
  4. Install Windows 11 on a new/different drive

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved concerning each of the listed solutions.

Can’t install Windows 11

1) Check your PC’s hardware requirements for Windows 11.

If your PC does not match any of the following criteria, you will be unable to install Windows 11. The most important hardware requirements for Windows 11 are:

A dual-core CPU with a clock speed of at least 1GHz or higher is required. It must also be 64-bit compatible and have Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 or greater support.

At least an Intel 8th-generation processor or AMD Ryzen 2000-series (non-APU) processor. Newer ones are all supported.

A decent-sized hard drive for Windows 11 – At least 64GB of storage space is available.

We recommend an SSD:

A graphics card or processor that is compatible with DirectX12 or later.

If you meet the minimum hardware requirements but can’t install Windows 11, there may be more underlying problems – try the other suggestions below if these don’t work.

2) Enable Secure Boot

If Secure Boot is disabled on your UEFI, you will be unable to install Windows 11 on your computer. Make sure that Secure Boot is enabled and try the installation again in this situation.

3) Enable TPM 2.0

The TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is another pre-installation check and is probably the most important requirement. To install Windows 11, you must ensure that your device has a functioning TPM. You may also install Windows 11 even though it will notify users that they must use only approved components. If you have an older motherboard, you can purchase and plug in a TPM module on your own.

4) Create new installation media using the ISO image.

If you don’t meet the minimal hardware requirements for Windows 11 installation, you won’t be able to complete it on your computer if you have faulty installation media. If this is the case, simply make a fresh new Windows 11 setup USB and retry the install procedure to rule out this possibility.

We personally use the SanDisk series for this.

5) Install Windows 11 on a new/different drive

If you’ve been trying to upgrade Windows 11 and haven’t been able to, you can attempt a clean installation from the ground up on a new or different drive, or completely format your current one before attempting the install. We recommend taking a backup and use PCMover for this.

6) Install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware

If you’re not sure whether your PC can run Windows 11, Microsoft has created a handy tool that will test your system and let you know. You can find it at this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

You can also check Microsoft’s website for a list of compatible systems.

If you’re positive your PC is compatible and you have enough hardware capacity, there are a few things you can try to get Windows 11 up and running:

– Try using a different installation media, such as a DVD or USB drive.

– Perform a clean install of Windows 11. This will erase all your data, but it may fix any installation problems.

– If you’ve previously installed a version of Windows 10 on your PC, try using the “repair” option in the Windows 11 installer. This may fix any installation problems.

If none of these solutions work, your only remaining option is to buy a new PC or our computer technicians can help you get your PC compatible with Windows 11.
