Anyone changed this pump without taking the front bumper off? Take a peek under the bumper / corner and there's black plastic that serves to cover all the innards. Get the cover loose by removing a few screws and popping a few x-mas tree clips from the fender liner at the edge of the fender. You should be
able to reach up in there that way. Joined Dec 18, 2020 · 2 Posts Joined Jun 30, 2012 · 3,277 Posts
How do I know if my windshield washer pump is bad? Checking to see if it has power to it. A visual also as if it's discolored due to it leaking. Summer fluid will freeze and not a lot of heat gets to it to defrost it. Joined 11 mo ago · 3 Posts
Thanks for the folks who posted here. I also had a bad washer fluid pump on my 2016 Malibu with 45,000 miles. I was able to replace it but GM design engineers made a simple job hard by placing the pump facing the bumper rather than the wheel well. The engineers should be required to work on the cars they design to appreciate what the folks who fix them go
through.

name Chinese part. My 2016 LT came with ACDelco part 22999423. Perhaps your pump had been previously replaced. Or maybe GM just uses various sources when the acdelco stock is depleted. Joined 11 mo ago · 3 Posts
I bought the car new so I know it hasn't been replaced before. It is a Malibu hybrid. Did you have to replace yours too?

the car up to get to it or were you able to do it flat ground? I am going to be replacing mine today Joined 11 mo ago · 3 Posts
I didn't have to jack the car but I had to get at it both from the wheel well and the bumper side. Hope fully yours will be easier to get at, mine is a Malibu Hybrid which shouldn't make any difference as far as the pump goes but may be they positioned better in other models. Good luck!
