Do you need bassinet insert for Pack N Play?To use a Pack 'n Play instead of a bassinet, it's not necessary to purchase a model that has a bassinet attachment or a bassinet level. (Those options are safe, but not required). It's fine for a baby of any age to sleep on the bottom of the Pack 'n Play, i.e. the lowest level.
When should you remove the bassinet from Pack N Play?Bassinet levels of a Pack N Play meet federal safety standards, and are therefore safe for a newborn to sleep. Be sure to check your user manual, as most Pack N Play bassinets have a weight limit of 15 lbs and should no longer be used once the baby can push up on their hands and knees.
Does Graco Pack N Play bassinet need mattress? Most pack-n-play does come with pads and mats, but they are simply too hard and have that plasticky feel. So they are not very comfortable enough to sleep. So yes, it is a good decision to add a separate pack-n-play mattress to make it more comfortable for your little one.
