How much money do you make on doordash reddit

So I have epilepsy and my leg is fractured, thanks for delivering my unhealthy food everybody. Most of the places I order from are under 5 miles away, and I pay a 5 dollar tip no matter what. So, considering your at least reasonably close by, doing other dashers, how much money do they give you to deliver my food? Secondly, does the amount of food you pick up from one place affect how much you get paid? I suppose it does have a lot to do with gas, and how far away you are, so if you could give me just what you'd call an average distance vs a short distance view that'd help me understand it more. I'm trying to put myself more in your place. Trying to learn what it's like and the rules and other nonsense doordash puts upon you

Your Market could be weak ( not your boyfriends fault). DoorDash doesn’t have a guarantee drivers will make money. If he is in a strong competitive market he may need to research more what times work or don’t.

Time adjustments help. 2-3 hour shifts are productive. So 2 shifts or 3 of 2-3( no more than 4 hour shifts) can help).

It’s hard to help not knowing how he does his shifts. My strategy may not work for his area. If the goal is $100 a day or $60. I’d do 5pm-8:30/9pm. Depends on how long that time period is lucrative. If it slows earlier decrease the time as needed. Could starts at 4:30pm as well. Again 2-3 hour shifts are best but you can go 4 hours and that’ll work. Do breakfast or lunch or dinner or all 3 or pick 2 of these shifts a day. Some only do 1 of the 3 shifts. Most do dinner shifts after work.( main job ).

Good luck to you both.

How much money do you make on doordash reddit

Hey, new dasher here. Started last Monday and made $230 working from 10:30am-6:45pm, Tuesday 3pm-4:30pm, Wednesday & Thursday from 11am-3pm, and Friday 11am-4pm. I've had 28 deliveries so far. I'm just trying to see how much the average full-time dasher makes, as I'm trying to leave my current job to do this full time. I feel like if I did it full time last week, I definitely would've made more than $300, which is usually what I make with my regular job. Thanks!

How much money do you make on doordash reddit

So I’m pretty new to this and I am currently dashing in Jackson, Ms. I’ve been looking online for tips and tricks to make more money doing this but honestly none of them work for me. I see videos of people making $100 to $200 a day dashing for 8 to 12 hours. I get that I can’t expect to make THAT much due it being a smaller city and I’m not dashing for more than 4 or 5 hours a day. But I barely make enough to pay for gas at this point. I average 6 to 8 deliveries a day due to the insanely long lines I have to wait in due to businesses not accommodating for us delivery drivers. Most of the time, I only make $2.50 to $5 maximum per delivery. Never got one above $8. Meanwhile, I see people complaining for any delivery under $8 to $10 and having to drive 5 to 10 miles to make that delivery. I’ll be sent on a 5 to 10 mile delivery lucky to make $5. And that is WITH PEAK PAY!!! I’m a VERY hard worker and always keep in contact with the people I’m delivering to and go out of my way to make sure I get the order as soon as possible. I don’t have any complaints on my profile either. Idk what else to do. I’m jobless right now because my workplace decided to downsize on EMTs and no one else seems to want to hire me or any of my other friends who used to work as EMTs. I’m not asking for a fortune doing this. Just enough to make some extra cash on the side. I’m lucky to get $20 to $30 after a day of delivering at this point. And I always wind up using half a tank of gas every day doing it as well. So please…any suggestions would be nice…Thank you.

Hi all, I’m one of the people who worked on this report. Can address some of the topics in the comments so far, happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Using the IRS number for expenses: we wanted to use what we thought would be the least controversial number for this report (clearly it's more controversial than we thought). $.575 is meant to represent the average total cost/mile for operating a vehicle in the U.S. This includes depreciation, which is not something like gasoline that you “pay for” directly on an ongoing basis, but should be included as an expense.

That being said, we recognize that the true cost/mile varies widely person-to-person depending on the car you drive and your location. This is why the distributions of Gross Earnings (for both Active and Online Time) are included in the report alongside the Net Earnings estimates if you think those numbers more accurately reflect reality. Our latest earnings calculator tool uses AAA vehicle type cost averages and local indexes for car ownership costs to get to a more accurate figure. We’re also planning an update where you can specify a specific per/mile expense number yourself if you don’t like our method or prefer to calculate this yourself.

We hope this first report is “interesting” but we recognize it’s probably not very useful when it comes to making day-to-day decisions as a Dasher. Our long-term goal is to produce this sort of analysis at a local level, comparing all active gig apps in major cities on an ongoing basis. This will allow us to answer questions like “which app is paying the most in X city?” or “How are earnings changing over time on Y app?”

The above information only exists in two places: with Doordash and other apps (they won't share it) and with you (each Dasher has a tiny piece). We're working to reassemble this puzzle and make it available to those who choose to anonymously contribute their puzzle piece, if that analogy makes sense.

How much can you make on DoorDash in a day Reddit?

Usually $250-300, for 10-12 hours. I do breakfast through lunch and then quit when it gets slow and go back out for dinner. On the higher earning days (usually Friday-Sunday), it stays busy enough to not go home mid day and I may even go over $300.
