Registering the gift card with Amex, Mastercard, or Visa is straightforward. Simply follow the online instructions for your card. Once properly verified, you’ll also be able to check the balance to find exactly how much is on the card. This will be required for one of the methods you use on Amazon.

Reload Your Amazon Balance

One way to use your gift card on Amazon after you’ve registered it with the issuing financial institution is to load your gift card balance into your Amazon account. You have the option of loading the card’s entire amount or a portion of it. Reloading your account means putting available funds there that you can use for future purchases. To do so, here’s what you need to do:

1. Log in to your Amazon account.
   
   
2. Using the top menu, locate and select “Gift Cards.”
   
   
3. From this new page’s menu at the top of the screen, click on “Reload Your Balance.”
   
   
4. Located on the right side of the screen, enter the amount you’d like to add from your gift card and hit “Buy Now.”

This method is a smart option if you have a gift card that only has a small balance on it and is nearing its expiration date. Amazon will allow you to pay for something by using your main payment method and the balance from an Amazon gift card. This is a smart way to not lose a couple of dollars that you have left on an old gift card. To do this, follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure you’re logged in to your Amazon account.
   
   
2. Using the search window, type in “Amazon egift card instant delivery email.”
   
   
3. Select the first search result.
   
   
4. Scroll down and locate “Enter amount.” Type in the amount that is left on your gift card.
   
   
5. For “To,” enter your own email address, and for “Delivery Date,” choose “Now.”
   
   
6. In the top-right corner, click the “Buy Now” button.
   
   
7. For payment, select your gift card.
   
   
8. You’ll receive an email from Amazon that contains an Amazon gift card code.

Once you’ve received the Amazon gift card code, you’ll need to load it into your Amazon account. It’s quick and easy to do. Fortunately, you don’t have to immediately use it. It can be stored in your Amazon gift card balance. Here’s how you do it.
