23 Best Dog-Friendly Getaways Near Seattle in 2022

An adventure with your best friend is just a car ride away

There’s something about January that just makes me want to sit down with the calendar and plan a whole bunch of travel for the coming year. It’s so cold and dark outside, curling up with a laptop and plotting some adventures feels incredibly satisfying.

Even though we hit pause on our big international trips during the pandemic, we’ve been loving getting reacquainted with the Seattle area and all its amazing (and dog-friendly!) weekend escapes. After spending ten years away living in NYC and Chicago, it’s been so fun to come back and rediscover old favorite getaways, as well as seeing all the new innovative glampsites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. And most of all, I’ve loved seeing how many of them are embracing dog-friendly options for your stay. I’m so much happier when we can bring Dave and Lizzie along on our vacations.

We’ve been doing a whole lot of getaway planning this month, so I thought I’d let you all take a little sneak peek at my list of cool dog-friendly Pacific Northwest getaways we’re eyeing for 2022 adventures. I even dug through all the fine print and linked directly to each pick’s pet policy. Read on for 23 Seattle-area inns, boutique hotels, resorts, glampsites, tiny houses, Airstreams, treehouses, and lodges that welcome dogs. 👇🏻🐶

The Inn at Saltwater Farm

I’m dying to plan a trip to this gorgeous inn and event space near picturesque Friday Harbor, which has several cabins that are “dog-friendly for friendly dogs.” How incredible does that picture look? Plus, we love the incredible hiking and views from San Juan Island. Dog-details are listed under each cabin description here.

Sagecliff Resort & Spa

Bring your best friend along for some wine-country magic at one of our personal favorite resorts in the area. We’ve been taking weekend getaways at Sagecliff since 2015, and it truly never disappoints. Hiking, wine-tasting, and sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge make this a completely dreamy escape. Deets on their pup policy here.

The Captain Whidbey

The Captain Whidbey is at the top of my getaway “bucket list” for 2022. With recent features in publications like Vogue, this beautifully-renovated historic inn has been popping up all over my Instagram feed, and I’m dying to take a trip. Click through into the reservation system to see which rooms (like the Filson Cabin!) are labeled as pet-friendly.

The Finch Walla Walla

Walla Walla is one of the top wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve had this modern downtown hotel bookmarked for a while because it looks like a perfect basecamp for a weekend in the snow or a weekend drinking wine. Or both! A limited number of pet-friendly rooms are available on request. Details are given here.

The Coho Oceanfront Lodge

Honestly, The Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with those waterfront fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast lodge is a bit of a drive from Seattle, its beautifully-modern interior and sweeping views of The Pacific make it worth the drive. Dogs under 25 lbs welcome in select rooms—more specifics here.

The Lodge at St. Edward

It’s my New Year’s resolution to book a stay at the dreamy Lodge at St. Edward as soon as possible—which should be easy since it’s just a half-hour drive outside of the city. This historic landmark seminary has been restored into a luxurious and chic retreat that’s nestled on 326 acres of trails directly on Lake Washington. Plus, wind down after a day of exploring with a trip to their spa or some Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. Dog-details here.

The Lodges on Vashon

We spent a perfect weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020—and blogged about it here—and the memories kept me going through the earliest months of lockdown. These design-forward 570-square-foot units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. Plus, they’re the perfect basecamp for exploring beautiful Vashon Island’s beaches and hikes. Nine of the sixteen lodges are dog-friendly, just select “pet fee” in the reservation portal—more details here.

Semiahmoo

We spent a blissful Easter weekend at Semiahmoo in 2019, and I’ve been looking for a chance to get back to its beautiful views and remote beach that Lizzie loved exploring. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this laid-back resort is a perfect basecamp for the great hiking and incredibly scenic coastal views of northern Washington. They’re extremely dog-friendly, and pups are welcomed with their own bowls, bed, and (at least during our visit) some souvenir swag. Dog-details here.

The Vintages

Travel back in time with a stay at one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They’re located in Willamette Wine Country. Trailers come with pour-over coffee, luxe linens, and fancy bathrobes. Pups are allowed in the Shasta Trailer, and they spell out more details here.

The Majestic Inn & Spa

Anacortes is one of my favorite excursions from the city. Drive an hour and a half north from Seattle for this quaint downtown beach town that’s complete with charming shops, delicious cafes, and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite Washington bookstores!) And we love the very prominent downtown inn, The Majestic, for its comfortable guest rooms and stunning rooftop bar. Their detailed pup-policy is here.

The Rolling Huts

I love a one-of-a-kind getaway, and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts definitely deliver that. These tiny houses were designed by Seattle’s Olson Kundig Architects to be a modern alternative to camping. Go for a hike or just relax and soak in those stunning mountain views. Their Hotels.com listing has a pet policy listed under the “Fees and Policies” section.

Roam Beyond

Alright, so this one isn’t technically available yet, but we’ve signed up for notifications to get a reservation the second these gorgeous camping trailers launch in Olympic National Park. They offer creature comforts beyond standard camping while still providing a secluded and sustainable way to get into nature. Two locations are slated to open soon in Washington, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can get a reservation for this summer. Their pet policy is in the FAQ section here.

Image courtesy of Outlook Inn on Orcas Island

Outlook Inn Orcas

I’m obsessed with the gorgeous new Water’s Edge Suites at this historic Orcas Island inn, which offer private balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself curling up with a book there. I think the only thing that could drag me away is the incredible menu at the onsite New Leaf Cafe. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in select rooms, suites, and studios—details here.

Seabrook Washington

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we take quick trips to Seabrook any chance that we can get. This picture-perfect beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific Coast is honestly everything I’m looking for in a vacation—an adorable downtown with cute shops and restaurants, lots of rental property options, and a sandy, pristine beach. Pups are welcome in many of the rentals.

Image courtesy of The Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa

The Woodmark

With beautiful views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a blissful escape just a quick drive outside of downtown Seattle. Explore downtown Kirkland’s shops and restaurants, get out on the water, or unwind at the spa. Book the Woof, Wag, and Worry Less package for your pup’s own bowl, bed, and special treats. More their Fido fine-print here.

Tentrr

If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We’ve stayed with them twice (in Vermont and during a trip to Maine that we blogged about here) and each trip was amazing. Basically, they set up luxury safari tents on exceptional pieces of privately-owned land like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. You can even choose to pay a bit extra to have one of their fruit pies delivered to your site or some of their farm fresh eggs for a delicious al fresco scramble. More on Tentrr’s pup policies here.

Crystal Peak Lookout

Admittedly, Idaho is a bit of a trek from Seattle, but we’d pretty much drive any distance to stay in this airy lookout. Plus the little details like the onsite sauna and antique coffee grinder really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, though judging from the ladder entrance, you might need to assess whether or not this would be a fun vacation for your pup. We didn’t spot any rules or details, but the Airbnb listing confirms that dogs are welcome.

Roche Harbor Resort

There’s something about a historic coastal hotel that gets me every time, and a trip to Roche Harbor Resort truly feels like a visit to another era. This gorgeous waterfront property on San Juan Island offers easy access to hiking, scenic beaches, and charming Friday Harbor. Pups can be added to reservations for certain rooms—details here.

Salish Lodge

Salish Lodge is one of our favorite escapes in the Seattle area, and the fact that they’re committed to pampering your pooch just makes the resort even better. and The pet fee gets your dog luxe presents like a souvenir blanket and collar tag. More on how they’ll spoil your dog here.

Image courtesy of Expedia / Saratoga Inn

Saratoga Inn

Escape to Whidbey Island’s charming waterfront town, Langley, for a stay at the cozy Saratoga Inn. My mom and I have taken mother-daughter trips getaways to The Saratoga since I was in high school and Gilmore Girls made me obsessed with cute little inns. I never get tired of shopping in the quaint downtown, sitting by the water, and enjoying the rocking chairs on the Saratoga’s wide front porch. Find their Fido fine-print under “Prices and Policies.”

Bone Voyage!
