Rancho steering stabilizer jeep jk install

1.0 out of 5 stars Fast failure, Poor shock.

It has been installed on my 2015 Jeep JKU for 1.5 months and is leaking on the tie rod mount end. It was great for the first month but i noticed over the last few weeks it was a bit rough. It now feels like the dead factory one i pulled. All local road and highway. I haven't even been on a dirt road with this stabilizer.

Was developing a minor front end vibration because the factory stabilizer was toast. The Rancho shock fixed it. It was super easy to install and I was finished in about 30 minutes. Highly recommend!

So much better than the stock damper! Steering feels much tighter! Definitely an recommended upgrade. No input in longevity as I just installed it but I imagine it will last for a long time.

Installed on my 2013 jku and steering improved a lot. I got my jeep used so didnt know how old the shock was so i decided to just swap a new one. Nxt to replace is my track bar.

I put Rancho shocks on my jeep 4 months ago, When the steering damper went out I chose Rancho to match the set. The old steering damper had a worn spot and would allow the wobble to start. The new damper has eliminated the issue.

Good value, improvement over my stock 80,000 mile damper. Only issue was that I had to push out the metal bushing in order to fit onto my Jeep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steering dampers do not 'fix' anything.

Bolted onto a 2012 JK in 5 minutes, the old one had zero resistance. This was to help with the ruts and potholes pulling the steering around. It also tightened up the centre 'dead spot'. This will not fix death wobble, it will not fix worn ball joints and trackbars, it will not improve cornering, it will not make your Jeep faster. Sprayed on a few coats of clear before installing as many reviews noted the thin paint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value and function for the price

So far it is working well. It was easy to install and a decent price. I have only had it on 2 weeks but no issues so far and it along with other parta fixes the Death Wobble. I would have liked it to have a bit more resistance but it is far better than the stock unit at this point.... Michael M

Fit my 2012 jeep jku wrangler perfect and made a huge difference over the worn stock unit.

Does it matter which way a steering stabilizer goes?

So as far as the actual placement of the stabilizer, it does not matter whether it's mounted with the can side on the axle or whether it's the can side on the actual tie rod or drag link.

Do you need a steering stabilizer Jeep JK?

A - In a perfectly set up chassis with tires that were very well balanced, a steering stabilizer technically isn't necessary. If you run your Jeep without a steering stabilizer and find you don't suffer from any unwanted vibration, wobble, or shaking, then there's no need to add one if you don't want to.
