The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems poised to be back on top of the movie world thanks to the long-awaited release of the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. After the film's first trailer broke viewing records, and with cries for a second trailer reaching something beyond a fever pitch, Marvel and Sony delivered something truly special with this new round of footage.

To put it simply, the MCU Multiverse is becoming a reality and Peter Parker will be thrown right into the middle of the madness.

The latest trailer gave a tease of just how massive No Way Home's scale will be as the footage teased the aftermath of Doctor Strange's attempt to fix Peter's identity crisis. While the first look at the MCU threequel from August 2021 showed Peter first approaching Strange about the issue, this new footage focused on the Multiversal aftermath of Strange's spell, specifically on the villain front.

Flying high on all counts this time around was Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, who makes his full return as Spidey's arch-nemesis, nearly 20 years after his Marvel debut. A couple of different shots from this new trailer even teased that Norman Osborn may be on track for a wardrobe change at some point in the film.

What Leads to Goblin's Outfit Adjustment?

In the past months, leaked photos from the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home hinted that multiple characters would don new versions of classic outfits, including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin.

For Goblin specifically, the changes were said to include comic-accurate additions such as a shoulder strap and a purple cloth around his arm, although it's difficult to tell if that's the case from this shot. What is clear, though, is the lack of his usual Goblin mask, which had been traded in for a pair of black goggles; this was another detail shared in the same leak.

With Willem Dafoe's Goblin making his way into the MCU via a jump through the Multiverse, it seems that he will come into No Way Home looking similar to how he did when he first suited up in 2002's Spider-Man. It's still a mystery what will lead him to change his look, be it for practical or aesthetic reasons, but this trailer fully confirms that a change is coming for the classic comic book villain.

Doctor Octavius has already been confirmed to be stealing Peter Parker's Iron Spider suit, while Jaime Foxx's Electro and Rhys Ifan's Lizard will also see some updates to their looks this time around. How these play into the story alongside Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin remains to be seen, although the Marvel fandom can't wait to find out more from here.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will debut in theaters on December 17, 2021. Tickets for the film will be available for purchase on November 29.
